Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. The Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico can be traced back to the indigenous cultures. Thousands of years before the Spanish Conquistadores arrived.
To celebrate this holiday, I give you a representation of Star Wars and other pop culture icons by Mis Nopales Art. Prints by José Pulido in a traditional Mexican style reminiscent of Dia de Los Muertos.
Alber Elbaz as an owl. Karl Lagerfeld as a cat. Terry Richardson as a guinea pig and a lemur. Anna Wintour as a praying mantis. The folks who run Tumblr blog Fashimals have created just that. The concept is simple: it takes every big name in the fashion industry, and transforms them into animals.
Check out their blog, is pretty cool.
Halloween is coming and you’ll need a good soundtrack in your parties. Here’s my list for the Top 39 Halloween Music. Some of them are soundtracks from movies that still haunt you in your dreams, some others terrorize you in their lyrics and others just use plain old spooky sounds and instruments like church organs.
Duck Sauce just released this, slightly NSFW, video for ‘Big Bad Wolf’ where they’re on a parallel universe and they’re a pair of… dickheads. Literally.
Humor, creativity, and good imagery. A-track, one half of the duo, sums it up saying “Remember when dance music videos used to actually be creative? Like when you think back to Aphex Twin, Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk… I don’t know why the genre’s videos became so generic in recent years.” Yeap, when?
You gotta love the girl’s vagina beard and the premature discharger.

While this won’t be Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown’s pimped out version of the car, with its Flux Capacitator, Time Circuits and ability to fly, at least you won’t need plutonium to make it work and it won’t form frost after you reach 88 MPH.
If only goodbyes sounded as good as this…

As part of their Fall 2011 collection, Hermès has teamed up with graffiti artist Kongo for his first commercial collaboration to produce several silk scarves based around his signature tag style. Kongo’s graffiti is not only found on the walls of Paris and France but also in New York and Hong Kong; and while graffiti prints are not a novelty in the fashion world, it is surely a big step for the artist.

So browse around and fall in love with suitcases, plates, cameras and do as I did, and choose wisely and fill your home with the warm feeling “old” brings.
Remember being 14, saving your allowance and asking your mom to drive you to Rite Aid to buy the latest issue of Tiger Beat? Well, I do. I was the ultimate late-90s-boyband-adoring teenage girl once, as I’m sure most of you were at some point (maybe not obsessed with the Backstreet Boys, but you get it). My favorite articles, aside from the ones where Nick Carter talked about his favorite color, were the ones where girls would submit pictures of their bedrooms/shrines. I was so inspired by the collection of posters on my fellow teenie boppers’ walls, I wanted to be able to express my (fourteen year old version of) love for these boys and their music just like they did. Unfortunately, I had a stubborn mother who was incredibly concerned about the nature of the lilac paint that adorned my bedroom walls and would under no circumstances let me tape the life size poster of my boyfriend next to my bed. Ugh! It was SOO unfair!
