Fashimals: Fashion stars transformed into animals

Alber Elbaz as an owl. Karl Lagerfeld as a cat. Terry Richardson as a guinea pig and a lemur. Anna Wintour as a praying mantis. The folks who run Tumblr blog Fashimals have created just that. The concept is simple: it takes every big name in the fashion industry, and transforms them into animals.

Check out their blog, is pretty cool.

Versace x H&M

As you well may be aware of, Versace will be the designer to follow up H&M’s widely successful collaboration with Lanvin.

When news first broke we were told the collection would will draw inspirations from Versace archives since ’78. Images of most pieces hit the internet a few days ago and proved this statement accurate. The iconic black dress with gold buttons, the colorful patterns, the Grecian geometric patterns…its all there.

Kongo x Hermes

As part of their Fall 2011 collection, Hermès has teamed up with graffiti artist Kongo for his first commercial collaboration to produce several silk scarves based around his signature tag style. Kongo’s graffiti is not only found on the walls of Paris and France but also in New York and Hong Kong; and while graffiti prints are not a novelty in the fashion world, it is surely a big step for the artist.
Part of the proceeds going towards graffiti collective Kosmopolis which supports young artists.

Lanvin Hiver 2011 ft. Pitbull

A step towards the return of fun in luxury?

The ever so brilliant Alber Elbaz of Lanvin has just offered us a one minute sneek peek into his world. In this Steven Meisel directed video, models Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann dance to Pitbull’s I Know You Want Me whilst wearing pieces from his Fall Winter 20111 collection.  It is refreshing to see a large fashion house take a fun approach to the usual sober tones that surround this season’s campaigns, and Alber dancing at the end of it reminds us all that sometimes its good not to be taken so seriously.

TUTORIAL: Barbarella Makeup

Barbarella (1968) is a cult classic starring Jane Fonda, one of my favorite movies. The thing that appeals to me the most is how sexual Barbarella is, yet innocent at the same time. She uses sex as currency throughout the whole film, but does it in an utterly non-perverse way. I love it!
