As part of their Fall 2011 collection, Hermès has teamed up with graffiti artist Kongo for his first commercial collaboration to produce several silk scarves based around his signature tag style. Kongo’s graffiti is not only found on the walls of Paris and France but also in New York and Hong Kong; and while graffiti prints are not a novelty in the fashion world, it is surely a big step for the artist.
Part of the proceeds going towards graffiti collective Kosmopolis which supports young artists.
It is interesting to see the outcome of one of France’s oldest luxury brands’ corporate battle to preserve its autonomy which happened in the recent past. Hermès has also seen a collaboration with Vans (originally for stylist Robert Verdi) which I am personally a bigger fan of and have included in this gallery.
